Hi, I’m Jeniffer!

I believe meaningful therapy begins with feeling genuinely understood.

About Me

I am Jeniffer Muñoz, a registered psychologist and the founder of Held Mind Psychology, a private psychology practice in Essendon North Melbourne.

The name Held Mind is inspired by psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott’s concept of a “holding environment” - a therapeutic space that feels safe, steady, and emotionally containing enough for you to explore your inner world at your own pace. It reflects how I understand therapy: not as something done to you, but as a relationship we create together, where all parts of you are welcome - even those that may feel confusing, painful, or difficult to understand.

Originally trained in Chile and later completing my Master of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in Australia, I offer individual psychological therapy for adults in English and Spanish, both in person in Essendon North and online. My own experience of migration has deepened my appreciation of how our relationships, identities, and life experiences shape the way we move through the world, while reminding me that every person’s story is unique.

I work in a trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and neurodiversity-affirming way. I welcome adults from all backgrounds and support people navigating anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, perfectionism, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and other challenges that can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from ourselves.

My practice is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic and attachment-based thinking alongside evidence-based therapies including CBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing. Rather than following a single model, I tailor therapy to each person's needs, goals, and experiences.

Above all, I hope Held Mind Psychology is a place where you feel genuinely heard and supported to make sense of your experiences. I believe that when we feel safe enough to explore ourselves with curiosity and compassion, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.
